Westchester County, New York – The Pro Basketball Association is pleased to announce that the New York Generals have joined the PBA. Team owner is no stranger to pro basketball. Born Feb 26, 1985 in White Plains New York, Torey Thomas would become legendary for his on the court play becoming a global phenomenon.
Thomas a 5’10 guard played for 4 years at Holy Cross (NCAA) where he was a Patriot League defensive player of the year and 1st Team All-conference and 3rd in the Nation in steals and defensive Player of the Year. After being brought in by the New York Knicks (NBA) then New Jersey Nets (NBA), Utah Jazz (NBA), and Boston Celtics (NBA) he starred at the Long Beach Summer Pro League.
Thomas would go on to be Import player of the Year in 2008 in Sweden but he was just getting started. He was the Dutch Player of the Year the following season then first team all-Imports and All-league 1st team in Poland for PGE Turow. This guy played in Russia, Italy, Turkey, France, Greece among others as an elite Euroleague, Eurocup, and Eurochallenge level player for 12 years. When you talk about the highest levels of professional basketball outside of the NBA, you see a picture of this guy. Yes, he was in camp with the Knicks. Yes, multiple NBA teams have had him working with their 1st team guys…. super elite true point guard that can run a team like nobody’s business, drains the three, and smart as can be the way he leads men to winning games.
“When a guy of Torey Thomas’ stature in the game rings your phone, you pick it up. This guy has been on more billboards in Europe than BMW. But what was even greater than he has been for well over a decade in the pro game is how much he cares about his community. He comes home every summer and is invested in helping players who have been a little less fortunate when it comes to having the spotlight and exposure for the next level and he wants something for them to stand on and take that next step. I was floored about the possibility of adding someone like Torey Thomas and the New York Generals. The business team he has already assembled including a radio partner and a GM that knows his stuff has got everyone in the Pro Basketball Association really excited. They’ll fit in that Northeast division perfectly with Rochester Razorsharks (7x PBL Champs), the Buffalo Blaze and yet to be named franchise that is also in the upstate area. Wow the NE will be rocking this Summer. Go Torey!”
