Chicago, Illinois – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Tuesday that the Chicago Fury had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Team owner Recce Carter is a 13 year ex-pro who played professionally in Europe and has won 4 championships. Upon returning to the States, after his career as a player overseas, Recce purchased the Chicago Fury franchise. The team is currently in the American Basketball Association’s Elite 8 out of 200 teams and are looking to wrap up their campaign to win the league championship.
Owner Recce Carter said “We are currently in the Elite 8 and our goal is to win the ABA Championship and then hopefully have the same success in the PBA.”
Chicago Fury – FAB 5
“We’re really excited about Recce and the Chicago Fury. They’re one of the top teams in the ABA overall and in the City of Chicago and they’ll be a terrific fit in our Midwest Division. We preach slow and moderate growth and organizations that are winners on and off the basketball court and the Fury check all those boxes. The PBA is kind of a who’s who from a number of other minor leagues and the ABA has a strong contingent of teams in the league but we also have many of the top MBL teams playing with us this Summer and some of the top teams from the PBL and other various minor leagues. We’ve acquired some other smaller leagues along the way and are fortunate to have some of the best teams Nationally come on board.”
“I think it’s really great that we can take the best of the best and work to build bridges and unite the sport at the levels below the NBA and NBA G-League. Our claim is as the top Spring-Summer Pro Basketball league in the United States and with over 50 teams Nationwide we have a lot to live up to. We have no interest in playing in the Fall-Winter season and love just being in our lane and giving organizations a way to keep the momentum on into the warmer weather where there is less competition from other Pro and Collegiate sports and when many of the best non-NBA players in the World are coming home so it’s a perfect space for us. I’m interested to see how these top clubs, who otherwise may not of been able to experience competing against one another, match up now that they’re in the same league. I know one thing, the Chicago Fury has a star studded program full of top level talent and they’re going to bring it all on game day.” PBA Commissioner – Chris Terrell
