The Fort Worth F.I.R.M. and New York Generals clashed on 9/19/21 in the PBA Championship that was featured with intensity and high level defense from both teams. The F.I.R.M. were led by Chuck Guy (6’0-PG-92, college: Tarleton St., agency: PBAplayers Agency) who won the first ever Finals MVP for the PBA scoring 18 points and running the offense for the champs. Wolf Rabb had 15, Jeromy Matthews 13, JR Duffey 11 but shotblocker Demontre McFarland 6’11 C 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks was instrumental. When McFarland wasn’t blocking shots, he was changing them and was a big part of the reason that New York was kept well below their average.
For the Generals Isaiah White had 14 all coming in the 4th quarter, Curtis Jenkins had 9, Ian Helps (6’6-F-96, Fredonia St.) and Brandon Johnson both added 8.
Both teams showed them belonged in the Finals all weekend but ultimately the interior defense for the F.I.R.M. proved to be the difference.
