Goldsboro, North Carolina – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Thursday that the Goldsboro Bulldogs have been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Team owner Quasim Harris is also the owner of Harris Auto Center L.L.C. Quasim was born in Newark , New Jersey but raised in Goldsboro NC and has been a huge fan of basketball since he was a kid, with his favorite team being the Lakers . The Goldsboro Bulldogs will bring professional basketball to the city of Goldsboro, North Carolina.
The organization has coaches that are hardworking and have experience coaching from different teams and bring great leadership, and are all-around great people to build an organization with. The club already has some players with experience playing high levels of basketball, that are unselfish, and overall have a good understanding of the game. The organization has a goal to bring a championship to Goldsboro, North Carolina. The Goldsboro Bulldogs will be playing their games at Goldsboro High School this season. The area has a long history of Minor League Baseball but from our online search this appears to be the first Minor League Basketball team to make Goldsboro home. Goldsboro has a population of 35,000 people and is approximately 1 hour Southeast of Raleigh and 1 hour Northeast of Fayetteville. The community is home to the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The organization will have special nights during the home schedule where Military personnel will receive discounted entry to the game.
“We’re really excited about Quasim and the Goldsboro Bulldogs. Regional Director of League Operations in the Southeast Angela Culliver has been instrumental in helping the PBA assemble a strong group of teams. Nationwide over 50 teams will compete in the PBA this Season and we’re located from Seattle, Washington to New York City and everywhere in between but North Carolina is somewhere we’ve been talking about and had front of mind for the league for sometime. They’re a perfect fit and help connect the dots between divisions for us because they geographically sit in the Southeast with partners in the Association in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and the like but North Carolina is also bordered by the Atlantic Coast so Coastal in the sense that there is easy access up to DC and Philly in a just a few hours. North Carolina is a hotbed of high level athletes and a community that is passionate about their hometown sports teams. This is a unique opportunity for Goldsboro, for basketball fans, the men and women serving on the base, that have something that is their own on Saturday nights this Summer and that can be really magical.”
