Maywood Warriors to join the Pro Basketball Association

Chicago, Illinois – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Monday that the Maywood Warriors were awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Owner Shavar Bronson was a basketball player himself but had a debilitating health condition which requires dialysis. Bronson will join the Chicago bubble with Chicago Angels, Black Angels, and White Angels; the organizations operated by Marquise Brown and Don Johnson. Similar in some ways to the NBA playoffs of a season ago where teams play out of one location to pool resources and profit share. We’ve found that logistics around the Country with the pandemic, facility availability, protocols for at the door testing, social distancing, and the like that the bubble format gave teams another option to get back to playing basketball and other than a few out of State road games, the Maywood Warriors will be in the Chicago bubble that so far features at least 4 teams in the division.

Midwest Division – Current, pending, and proposed markets

Bronson on the opportunity to join the PBA said “I am really looking forward to the opportunity to help players reach the highest levels of the sport. My condition doesn’t allow me to compete on the court anymore but to see those guys live out their dreams is impactful for me. The Maywood Warriors offer a positive environment for the city of Chicago. Through sports, kids can by watching us learn that teamwork is important, dedication, effort, sacrificing of one’s self for the team accomplishment. It helps teach life skills and gives the kids in the community a positive outlet for self-expression and joy.”
