Columbus Blackhawks join the Pro Basketball Association

Columbus, Georgia – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Saturday that the Columbus Blackhawks had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 Spring-Summer PBA season. Owner Angela Culliver has also been named Regional Director of League Operations for the Pro Basketball Association. It’s also being announced as a part of a separate press releases that the Culliver owned Music City Jazz are also joining the Pro Basketball Association along with several of the better organizations in the Southeast Division.

Because of this background Angela knows all about structure, commitment, hard work and perseverance. Angela has had the love for the game since a young age of 9 years old and has done everything from being a player, to coaching everything from Boys & Girls Clubs to ABA teams over the last 20 years, to being a referee for 9 years and now being the owner of 2 ABA teams (Columbus Blackhawks & Music City Jazz, 1 WABA team (TriCity Lady Blackhawks) and 1 minor league basketball team (Southeast Cobras). Now Ms Culliver can add two PBA franchises to that as the Columbus Blackhawks will also be joining the PBA to be issued as a separate press release. Music City Jazz join the Pro Basketball Association

Nashville, Tennessee – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Saturday that the league had awarded a franchise to the Music City Jazz for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Texas Tsunami joins the Pro Basketball Association

The Pro Basketball Association announced on Saturday that the Texas Tsunami had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Owner Tim Slums put the Tsunami in the Maximum Basketball League this past season, which plays a Fall-Winter schedule, and is looking to keep the program playing on into the Spring-Summer Season with the PBA.

The Pro Basketball Association currently features 40 teams Nationwide with several pending announcements. Organizations are based from Seattle to New York City and everywhere in between. The Texas Tsunami will play in the South division which houses a bubble of 12 teams in the Texas region. The league begins play in May and plays a 10 game regular season plus playoffs over a 21 week period that extends on into September with the post season.

The PBA Pro Combine and Draft is an opportunity for players that are currently free agents and/or recently finished playing College Basketball to become draft eligible into the Pro Basketball Association. With 40 teams Nationwide, and a 2-round draft, a minimum of 80 players will be drafted. The event will be held in two locations to help with the geography of having players, coaches, scouts, team owners, general managers, and agents attend. Ricky Benitez to run Dallas Pro Combine and Draft for the Pro Basketball Association

Tampa, Florida – The Pro Basketball Association announced that Coach Ricky Benitez would run the Dallas Pro Combine and Draft for the PBA on April 3rd, 2021 in Lewisville, Texas. It is an invite only event and players and/or their representation is encouraged to email profile/video to [email protected]

All video from the Pro Combine and Draft held in Rochester, New York on March 27th and Dallas, Texas on April 3rd will be available online with names, profiles, jersey number for teams foreign and domestic the ability to sign the player. All players that attend either or both combines is immediately made draft eligible. Currently the Pro Basketball Association has 36 teams Nationwide. It is a 2-round draft. That means that 72 players will be drafted. If you’re invited to attend, you’re probably going to be drafted with those odds. This is your opportunity to take the platform to show your ability.

Coach Benitez has coached in 9 Countries on 5 continents including LPB-Venezuela (top league), Dominican Republic, LNBP Mexico, CiBaCoPa Mexico, Hungary, China, among others. He’s won 16 championships in his career including minor leagues like the CBA, WBA, USBL, ABA among others. And has won at the College and AAU levels prior to that, all told a 20 year professional career.

Quad City Flames join the Pro Basketball Association

Olympia, Washington – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Tuesday that the Quad City Flames had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 Spring-Summer Season. Owned and managed by Jams94 Inc led by President Marcus “Doc” Stancil, the mission of the Quad City Flames Professional Basketball Organization is to support educational and athletic achievement in youth, promote cultural excellence, while showcasing the spirit and energy of the Thurston, King and Pierce County communities. Maywood Warriors to join the Pro Basketball Association

Chicago, Illinois – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Monday that the Maywood Warriors were awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Spring-Summer Season. Owner Shavar Bronson was a basketball player himself but had a debilitating health condition which requires dialysis. Bronson will join the Chicago bubble with Chicago Angels, Black Angels, and White Angels; the organizations operated by Marquise Brown and Don Johnson. Similar in some ways to the NBA playoffs of a season ago where teams play out of one location to pool resources and profit share. We’ve found that logistics around the Country with the pandemic, facility availability, protocols for at the door testing, social distancing, and the like that the bubble format gave teams another option to get back to playing basketball and other than a few out of State road games, the Maywood Warriors will be in the Chicago bubble that so far features at least 4 teams in the division.

McKinney, Texas – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Sunday that a partner agreement had been reached naming Yabnu Sports the Official Uniform Manufacturer of the PBA. Zaheer Abbas is the President of Yabnu Sports and he and PBA Commissioner Chris Terrell have been working together to get a sponsorship agreement in place to greatly reduce the cost of uniform manufacturing to the PBA’s partner teams in the Association.

Yabnu with the naming rights, apparel branding, league logo, and a special quality of fabric that has a modern fit with vibrant colors and patterns was able to come to terms on an agreement. For less than $25 per set (Jersey tops and shorts) with logos, sponsors, branding, modern fit, and soft fabric with vibrant colors that don’t fade easily; Yabnu has proven to be a quality manufacturer that will work with the 34 teams in the Nationwide PBA to really uniform the league in a high quality way. Lilac City Legends join the Pro Basketball Association

Spokane, Washington – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Friday that the Lilac City Legends had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Season. Team market owner Michael Bethely has been instrumental in bringing Pro Basketball to the Northwest community of Spokane.

Michael Bethely is the team’s president and is excited about what the Legends will provide to the Spokane community.

“We want to honor, encourage, inspire and create LEGENDS within our community,” said Bethely, a community advocate, entrepreneur, and lover of the game. “Plus, we want to highlight the value of community, and show how it is so much bigger than basketball.”

Bethely also states that “joining the PBA will be a great opportunity to give our guys an additional platform to not only play against prime competition, but also give them the exposure they need to take and play their game at the next level!” And, with the talent hanging around the area, expect the Legends to put on an entertaining product.

Paul Butorac, who formally played basketball for Eastern Washington University and 10 plus years professionally overseas, will be the Legend’s head coach. Butorac averaged 15ppg and 7rpg at EWU and followed that up by taking his game abroad including stops in France, Poland, Estonia, the NBA G-League and Mexico but really spent the meat and potatoes of a long and successful pro career overseas in Japan. Butorac was a household name there featured on billboards in cities of clubs such as Nigata, Akita, Takamatsu, Yokohama, Toyota Tsusho, Fubon, and Saitama among others. The 6’9″ Power Forward is a Galvaston, Texas native that has for sometime called Spokane home and is an incredible resource for the next generation because he’s been there and done that and can tell them what it takes.

Houston Red Storm join the Pro Basketball Association

Houston, Texas – The Pro Basketball Association announced on Friday that the Houston Red Storm had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Season. Owner Larry Leonard is no stranger to high level minor league basketball. Mr. Leonard has been a pillar in the community with his ABA franchise in Houston since 2006. They’ve been successful on and off the court and make a difference in the community in which they serve. Leonard is also an apparel manufacturer and brings the experience of knowing what it takes to succeed in winning on the court and winning off of it.

Houston, Texas now features two Pro Basketball Association organizations, with the Red Storm joining the H-Town Astronauts in the Southeast division. The clubs will have a natural cross-town rivalry and double the promotion will work together to get their brand and games to the greater Houston market. The Southeast will feature teams from Texas, Louisianna, the Greater Gulf Coast Region, Mississippi to Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The Pro Basketball Association is also in communication and has pending applications for franchises to be awarded in the State of Georgia. It’s an exciting time for the PBA and this Southeast Division much like the SEC is going to be high level every weekend this season in the PBA. The league plays a Spring-Summer schedule beginning in May and plays a 10-game regular season through August.

West Tennessee Heat join the Pro Basketball Association

The Pro Basketball Association announced on Friday that the West Tennessee Heat had been awarded a franchise for the 2021 PBA Season. Coach Jeremy McKinnie has been coaching for 17 years at every level including high school, AAU, Minor League and Semi-Professional. McKinnie started in Minor League Basketball as the Mississippi Eagles, in Southaven, MS. in 2014 under owners Bryan Settle and Scott Robinson in the CBA. The very first year the team finished in 3rd place. At that time, McKinnie was the only coach in the league to have players drafted directly to the NBA G-league. Afterwards, McKinnie was directly appointed a coaching position in Penny Hardaway’s Summer Pro-Am tournament called the Bluff City Classic where he coached players such as Ian Clark (Golden State Warriors), Lou Wiliams (LA Clippers), Will Barton (Denver Nuggets), Josh Selby (Kansas Jayhawks) and Willie Kemp (Memphis).

West Tennessee Heat was established February 2019 as an umbrella initiative under a 501(c)3 Team Memphis Heat-Lady Heat where the organization is seeking to help former athletes reach their goals, stay off the streets, and to help them establish International playing careers.
